DEFOREST, WI, August 28, 2025 —Pirates, pups, and plenty of tail-wagging fun filled Green Acres Pet Resort during its annual Pup-A-Palooza summer celebration. The event raised $1000 for Norski Nibbles, a local program that provides free summer lunches to children in the DeForest community.
Pet parents who pledged a donation to Norski Nibbles received a keepsake pirate-themed portrait of their pup. Dogs enjoyed a full day of swashbuckling fun with themed canine enrichment activities, including:
- Walking the Plank – Adventurous pups tested their balance in this playful pirate challenge which improves agility and tactile stimulation as their paws move from the grass or small gravel to a smooth board.
- Mutiny on the High Seas – Dogs tried to capture a mischievous “chicken pirate” on a flirt pole which engages their attention, sharpens their visual tracking skills, satisfies their desire to tug and chew, and boosts confidence while being good overall exercise.
- Searching for Sunken Treasure – Sensory mats and wading pools became watery pirate coves filled with tasty treasures for multi-sensory engagement and discovery to boost problem-solving skills
“We’re thrilled that Pup-A-Palooza continues to bring so much joy to our daycare families while making a positive impact in our community,” said Kelsie Beck, Resort Manager at Green Acres Pet Resort. “Thanks to the generosity of our pet parents, we were able to support Norski Nibbles in their mission to provide children with nutritious meals over the summer months.”
The day ended with plenty of tail wags, treats, and pirate cheer. Pup-A-Palooza is part of Green Acres’ commitment to creating meaningful experiences for dogs while also giving back to the community. Through creative activities, themed events, and fundraising opportunities, the resort strengthens the bond between pets, their families, and the wider community.

ABOUT NORSKI NIBBLES
Norski Nibbles is a community program that provides free, nutritious lunches during the summer months to children in DeForest and Windsor. The program is administered by volunteers from several local churches and other organizations and is based out of Christ Lutheran Church on South Main St. It works to bridge the nutritional gap when school meal programs are unavailable. Monetary donations help the non-profit organization to purchase all the many items that are needed to provide a healthy lunch to area kids.
